The Towns of Dunkirk, Albion, Porter, and Fulton have been notified that EDP Renewables plans to build and operate a 900-acre solar field project (170 MW) in the four-corners area of Dunkirk-Albion-Porter-Fulton, Wisconsin. Next Meeting 8/19/26 Agenda
EDP describes the Project Details as follows:
- Capacity: 170 MW (as of 8-6-26) 100 MW Solar and 70 MW Battery Storage
- Project Name (as of 8-5-26): "Rock Dane Energy and Solar Storage"
- Point of Interconnection: 345kV Wempletown to Rockdale Transmission Line
- Location: Dane County (Towns of Albion and Dunkirk) & Rock County (Towns of Fulton and Porter)
- Project Timeline (as of 8-5-26):
- Reengage the local officials
- Reengage the community to make sure we cover all questions
- End of August 2026: Have first "howdy" sit-down meeting with PSC
- Conducting all the studies that are required to go into the CPCN process with PSC (Public Service Commission is the signing authority over this project). The applicatiion to PSC will be submitted in late 2026 or early 2027. The application will be approved in mid-2028.
- Mid 2028: move forward with the local utility to start construction
- Project will be online by end of 2029
- Targeting a 2029 Commercial Operation Date
- Production: Estimated to be 360,00 MWh annually
The Four Towns have developed a “4Town Joint Solar Project Committee” consisting of two representatives from each Town to meet every two weeks to gather information pertaining to this proposed installation. The public is welcome to attend the committee meetings and may be invited to make public comment in the last portion of the meeting.
